What is it?

This program is an Australian federal government initiative, providing junior doctors with the opportunity to experience the work of General Practice, in outer metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas. The program offers high quality training in a wide range of clinical situations. A key aim of it is to provide junior doctors with an experience that may encourage them to choose General Practice as a career. Rural posts in the PGPPP program are managed by ACRRM, while urban posts are managed by RACGP.

PGPPP at Adelaide to Outback

Please click here for the 2008 term dates for Interns and Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs), also known as PGY2+.

Adelaide to Outback has been involved with the PGPPP since January 2005. We offer junior doctors the opportunity to work in a ten- to thirteen-week General Practice placement, under the supervision of GPs at the Practice.

We currently offer thirty Intern and eight TMO GP placements per year. Interns from four of Adelaide's tertiary hospitals and TMOs from two tertiary hospitals may undertake a rotation in one of our eight accredited teaching practices.

Rural rotations
Clare Medical Centre (Interns from the Royal Adelaide Hospital)
Crystal Brook Medical Centre (Interns from the Royal Adelaide Hospital)
Kadina Medical Associates (Interns from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital)

Metropolitan Intern rotations
Windsor Village Medical Centre (Interns from the Lyell McEwin Health Service)
Athelstone Medical Clinic (Interns from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital)
Health at Newton (Interns from Modbury Public Hospital)

Metropolitan TMO rotations
Oakden Medical Centre (TMO from the Lyell McEwin Health Service)
Beulah Park Medical Clinic (TMO from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital)
