HECS Reimbursement Scheme
The HECS Reimbursement Scheme was announced in the 2000-01 Federal Budget as part of the Regional Health Strategy: More Doctors, Better Services. The Scheme was continued in the 2004-05 Federal Budget under the Rural Health Strategy with additional funding of $28.8 million provided over four years. This Scheme aims to promote careers in rural medicine and increase the number of doctors in rural and regional areas in the longer term.

National Rural Faculty
The National Rural Faculty (NRF) is the Academic Faculty within The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners responsible for the award of the Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice /Graduate Diploma in Rural General Practice which includes the completion of Advanced Rural Skills Posts to provide potential rural GPs with essential procedural skills.

The NRF has developed resources which are ideal for rural and remote general practice registrars or other medical practitioners preparing to sit the college examination. Exam preparation DVDs.
